East Arete

Ben Craft, Spencer Matthews and I drove to Bishop Saturday morning and started hiking in at about 3pm. Arrived at Lake 10960 at about 6pm. We had decided to do the full route rather than the abbreviated route which requires that you approach from the north side of the arête. Had a great night's sleep (it was WAY warm up there during the night), got up early and arrived at the start of the climb at about 6am Sunday morning. We 3rd-classed the entire route and arrived at the summit by noon. This was a fun route. Mostly just 3rd class with a couple of very short technical sections. Hung out at the summit for about an hour and met some other folk who had just done the North Coulier. Got back to our car at 5pm, had a bite to eat, and then soaked in Keough Springs for a an hour or so. Got back last night at midnight.
