Route Description

Galenstock - NW corridor
Description
Get the normal route to the Galenstock by the W flank through the glacier of the Rodano. Pass beyond the shunting line of Galengletscher, under altitude 2769 m. (where the SW's ridge start by the Rhonegletscher) and slowly catching upfor short a steep slope successive to the feet of slope NW of the Galenstock (the 1,30 h).
To continue towards up climbing the large slope and aim at the corridors that come down from the summit snowy ice cap. Climb with the skis under to the 3 corridors, very visible from the bottom, until where the slope concurs it. Continue by feet taking the more skillful a corridor of the 3, little pronounced and steepest (150/200 meters, beyond 45°). Do not try to get that more pronounced and obvious one , because the exit above is always obstructed by a strained ice-fall .
Top out from the corridor going in last left back , where the slope is attenuated and reach the basin at the base of the summit ice cap (1,30/2 h). Climb the ice cap in the center (steep and bold, approximately 300 m. max 45°) and directly top out in point for a last short jump (15 m. to 50°).
Descent for the same route.
