Route Description

Cheneil, summer hike
From parking (2,023 mt. o.s.l.), a steep step brings to Cheneil village. Don't walk directly to main village. Remain on left size of "Conca di Cheneil" (Cheneil's basin) and head to trail n.29/26 (on IGC map marked as 23-23a!).
Once left Cheneil basin, a sweet long travers (30-40 min) take hiker at the base of Rio Cheney waterfall. Cross the Rio and climb the steep gully, leaving waterfall on your left.
Enjoy great sight on Cheneil basin ended the steep trail (ab. 1 hr), and forward in a narrow dale for about 15 min. Suddendly a large flat field (Alpe Lezan) will offer first real sightseen on Roisetta. Here trail 29 "turns right" (not visible at all in the meadow) in a valley, just under the pyramid of Grand Tournalin. Walk in, leaving the water spring at your right.
At the end of this steep sub-valley, turn left for a long and easy traverse, hiking toward summit direction. A couple of two steepest slopes allow hiker to gain elevation and reache the "popular" S summit (3 - 3.30 hrs, without snow).
To get to N, main summit, forward on broken ridge. Mind your steps for unstable rocks. 20 minutes from S summit. Very few people arrives here.

Warning: snow conditions in early season may slow down march from 2.900 mt. Don't scramble on main summit if snowed/iced.

Essential Gear

Alpin gear required. Poles and crampons may help in June and early July.
