Overview

The path enters Plana de...Cúpula de Secús

The range (sierra) of Secús is a long collection of summits in the north of Bisaurin but really only three are really relevants, Secús (2344m), Puntal de Secús (2512m) and Cúpula de Secús (2430m). The others had different names according with books and maps and the entity is less: peak 2361m, peak 2441m, Puntal alto de Partaza (2380m), Napazal/Liouviella (2340m)...
The wall of 800 meters of Sierra de Secús over the valley of Aguas Tuertas are really impressive hiding the Bisaurin from the north and the routes cross in the middle of the range in the Brecha de Secús. In the west the entry is possible from north (col of Taxeras) or southwest (Gabardito). Between Bisaurin and Puntal de Secús is located the col of Secús, only point of pass in the center of the range. From the east the Puerto de Bernera is the point of access between Cupula de Secús and Bernera’s range. Because the localization of highest Puntal de Secús near of Bisaurin make the peak as a complementary climb of the route of this mountain and for this reason the Cúpula de Secús is the most individualizated and relevant summit of the range in my opinion, but the climb of the Puntal de Secús is a good option as well.
For the people that visit the area of Lizara mountain hut I think it's a good climb. In summer is a nice walk in the valley of the Sarrios (F, fácil, easy) and in winter is an interesting climb with rock and mixed areas with snow (PD-). With ice the long fall is dangerous and very exposed in the final ridge.

Getting There

From Huesca (east) or Pamplona (west), follow road N-240 towards the other one. At Puente la Reina (88 km away from Pamplona, or 72 km away from Huesca) you will have to turn north by road A176. After 16 km, turn right once again to take road HU212 into the valley of Aragüés. This is narrow but good road taking you to the village of Aragüés del Puerto. 7 km after the village you will find the Restaurant "Los Corralones" and 3 km farther the parking of the Lizara Mountain Hut, under the great Bisaurín. From the parking is visible the little cirque with Bisaurin and Bernera and between both it can see the Cúpula de Secús.

Red Tape

No need for permits or parking pass. The parking of Lizara is not very wide, in sunny days you can arrive early in the morning for take a place.

When To Climb

July to september is the summer climb. Generally in may-june had some snow in some coulouirs and stepcrossings and october is a rainy time. Winter (november to april) is a interesting winter climb in the sunny days but only for mountaineers with experience. With bad weather conditions it's not a good idea the climb of this peak.

Camping

Camping is not allowed.

The Refugio de Lizara is a great place to lodge and the trailhead of the route. It's perfect.

The two little free huts of the route are only for an emergency.

Children

Children refers to the set of objects that logically fall under a given object. For example, the Aconcagua mountain page is a child of the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits.' The Aconcagua mountain itself has many routes, photos, and trip reports as children.
