Approach

With a car you can reach the parking place below the dam of Goesskar lake (1670m). From there you take a narrow, for public traffic closed road to the Giessener Huette, 2215m. To the hut 1.5 hour. It`s good if you have with you a mountain bike with you!

Route Description

From the Giessener Huette you follow the route with number 533 to the SW direction and you cross the long SE slopes of the Schneewinkelspitze and Saeuleck. The route leads you over the big rocks and over the beautiful grass and by small brooks. Soon you come in the small basin below the last ascent on the Mallnitzer Scharte (2672m) (notch). First you reach the top of the steep scree and then you climb over the small shelf on the notch. The shelf is secured by the iron ropes.

From the notch you have a beautiful view on the Dösener See (lake) and on the Arthur-von-Schmid-Haus (2275m) where goes the normal approach on Saeuleck. From the notch you descend some meters and soon you come on the normal route. Now you scramble over the screes and slopes of the SE ridge of the Saeuleck to the top of Saeuleck.

You descend by the same route or over the Detmolder Weg.
