Overview

My Daughter and Friend on Three PointWinter snowshoeing on the Blacks Creek Route.
This is the main route on the peak. It is a simple walk-up that requires a couple of hours only. The route is Class 1.

Getting There

Take the BLACKS CR. RD. EXIT 64. Turn north (left if coming in from Boise) onto E BLACKS CREEK RD. Follow E BLACKS CREEK RD for approximately 6.4 miles, where you will turn left (north) and continue on a improved dirt road to Blacks Creek Pass at 11 miles.

Route Description

Use the directions from the "Getting There" section to get to Blacks Creek Pass. At the pass park on the east side of the road in a turnout. Cross the road heading west and follow the wide trail heading toward the saddle north of the peak. From the saddle, turn south and climb to the top of the northern point.

From the northern point, traverse to the middle point, then eventually to the southern point. You will only be losing about 100' of elevation between each point. Either return by traversing back across the peaks, or bush-whack down to the road and follow it back to the trailhead.

Essential Gear

In the non-winter months...
Just boots, some snacks and water, possibly some rain gear.

In the winter...
Skis or snowshoes. Some winter clothing, but this isn't Denali, so you won't need your gortex overboots or 800 fill down jacket.
