Barranco de Petrechema - Collado del Huerto

Approach

The base of the climb is Refugio de Linza (1.350 m). See Petrechema / "Getting There" to approach to the refuge.

Route Description

Follow the Linza - Collado de Petrechema route to the little col (1.775 m). Then turn to the right (SE) following the track that ascend on an area dotted with black pines and cairns. Gain height smoothly below a rocky wall. Soon the path reaches the wide gully that climbs to Collado del Huerto de Acherito (2.169 m). Ascend on a zig-zaging trail NE wards to the W ridge. Finally traverse the comb to the summit of Acherito.

Essential Gear

In summer take enough water for the complete climb because you won't find it the hole route. Also wear a cap and bring a shell jacket in order to protect yourself from a possible downpour. In winter and early spring wear warm clothes, take crampons and ice axe. The compass, map and altimeter could also be advisable anytime of the year.
