Monte Proventino is a 1038m high mountain in the Ligurian Apennine, with a panoramic grassy flat summit, from here it is possible to see both Ligurian sea and a wide sector of the Alps, starting from Alpi Marittime, including also Gran Paradiso group, Matterhorn, Monte Rosa group and finishing with Grigne group. One can start the trip from Crocefieschi, getting Case Martellona along a paved road. Here begins the pleasant "Cesare Fera" path that, offering fine views, runs along the wooded Northern slope of Monte Schigonzo 1014m and then leads without any difficulty to the grassy top of Monte Proventino, where there are both a summital cross and a panoramic bench, too. Returning along the flat summit, at a fork one can descend along grassy ridges arriving at a small chapel (Cappelletta dei Rocchi); from here a partially paved road passes near another chapel (Cappella degli Alpini di Cernaia) and then leads to Crocefieschi, so closing the ring. |
