Yet another photo of McHenry's Peak, but I didn't see others any from this vantage point, or with this much snow.Taken from the Longs Peak Trough, early May, 1999.
Stone Man Pass is the saddle on the left, and the Stone Man himself is visible farther left. Some people give him a phallic nickname.

Sweet!

Nice photo Nelson. Those couloirs on the face look like a fun winter climb. Ever tried one? How hard?

Re: Sweet!

Thanks Martin. The obvious left leaning one in the center is called Snow Bench. The Gillet book rates it Grade II, AI 2, M3, where the "M" is a designation he uses for mixed mountaineering routes, from M1-M9, 9 being the hardest.

I have not climbed it but a friend of mine did. He thought it was well within my abilities, which means it is easy. Perhaps slightly harder than Meeker's Dreamweaver which I climbed unroped and with great enjoyment (in perfect conditions) two years ago.

I'd like to do something on this east face of McHenry's some day! Maybe miztiflip or John Prater have done one.
