Originally set out to hike this with Karl and Luna 2/12/11 but we were late getting there and hit our turnaround time too soon and only got up Middle Mountain that day. Went back with Luna 6/4/11 and tried a different route straight up the gulches and ridges from the TH. Spooked 3 rattlers on the way up. Luna got overheated and wanted to rest at every tree on the way down. That combined with a different route down the meadows to avoid snakes got us about 35-40 ticks between the two of us. Was pretty miserable. Would only recommend this one when it is colder and all the nasties are dormant.
