Threesome
Also on 10 August 2009 and 28 September 2010. I like the scrambling on the ridge.

Great Day on the Mountain
I arrived at Onion Valley Campground and had camp set up by 1. Originally I was headed over to Golden Trout Lake, but my campsite was on the trail to Lake Robinson, so I pulled up the map and decided to go up Independance Peak instead. I'm glad I did. The first 1,000 feet of Scree wasn't bad at all as far as Scree and Talus goes, then a super fun upper 500 feet made for a great afternoon. I even found some un-vegetated scree chutes to "surf" down, so I made very quick and fun work of the decent!

Late Fall Climb
Climbed snow from about halfway up the couloir to the notch. Enjoyed several short sections of third class scrambling in the couloir and on the ridge. Here is my trip report.

West Face
Talus slog on west face to chute under chockstone.... GEEEZ! Had a great time on the ridge between false summit and true summit to north. Caught ourselves on some 4th class stuff that keep the afternoon exciting. Awesome view, too bad the days are so short.

West Face
The scree and talus drove our party bonkers! Used the trail for maybe 400 yards and went up the west face. Lots of scree and talus, lots of class 4 climbing with maybe a 5th class move or two. Great exposure on the ridge line! Great route finding by my lead climber/partner Deb, she made this climb fun and exciting! I even surprised myself on a slab I had to down climb in a precarious spot.
