"So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life."

Slings and thingsAfter injuring my arm in a climbing fall, I had to switch to hiking mode. Highlights for me were:
+Catching crabs to boil while waiting for hours at the Nitinat Narrows for a boat to ferry me over.
+Watching a grey whale in shallow water scouring the mud bottom and flipping around
+Some friendly Native American guy that was selling chips and hot dogs and cold beverages on a long and boring gravel beach.
-slipping off the boards in a skunk cabbage swamp and going into black hip-deep icy cold mud.
-throwing everything I could find at the racoons during a long night where they just wouldn't give up.

Bamfield to Port RenfrewJuly 28 to August 2, 2013. Great trip and great weather. Definitely not like hiking in the mountains, but it was a fun adventure I will always remember. It was also fun to spend a few days in Victoria. Worth the time and effort spent in planning.

Should return! Not sure about the year... This was one of the BEST vacations - Vancouver Island! Loved this place! We only got to do a day trip on the West Coast Trail, but it was enough to get a sense of the grandeur and beauty of the area! Stayed at the most delightful B&B - I wish I wrote down the name... Should return!

Port Renfrew to BamfieldJune 5 to June 11, 2005. Had reasonably good weather for June, not much rain. Loved all the adventure, cable cars across rivers, boardwalks, tidal shelves... One of the best hikes I have ever done. The highlight was definitely the fresh crab at Nitinat Narrows.
