The pics, the story...good stuff. I did a 20 miler with 5000 feet of elevation gain in Idaho a month ago and we were both still smiling at the end of the day. It is such a blessing to be able to get out and do this stuff but I readily admit, the country you were in is a lot prettier and a lot higher in elevation. Nice nice nice.
I helped my friend finish off the Utah 13ers yesterday. We climbed Quandary the first day, then the second day summited Lovinia, Wasatch, NW Wasatch, and Tokewanna, and descended on your route back to the trail in east black's fork. Your off-trail descent track just missed a couple of old burned cabin sites (probably by forest fire) that we found, looked very old and pretty untouched. We found the stove, cookware, dishes and glass from a bygone era. Thanks for the report and pics, and impressed by your winter solo of Tokewanna. Inspiring.
