Heading towards the summit of...

Heading towards the summit of Veliki Rajinac (1667m) via the unmarked approach up its steep SW side above Veliki Lom (1250m) in Lomska Duliba valley. Target is rounded saddle in the cliffs above. Although from the valley it seams there could be some serious rock climbing around the passage there is system of shelves and getting over is not a problem.

Re: Interesting!

Thanks Bor!!

Btw, we are having snow chaos here for two days now. There is finally 1m of snow on Velebit like on Kredarica and Vogel :-) Tonight because of heavy blizzard and hurricane force Bura which is so far reaching 180km/h below Velebit all roads and bridges are closed completely and heavy snow is in forecast tomorrow as well as is hurricane force Bura; crazy, but as you can see I like it hehe :-) But not only around Velebit is chaos; there is no communication between coast and continent of Croatia at all right now! In Gorski Kotar and Lika there is between 50 and 80cm of fresh snow! Can't wait this weekend, its going to be ice paradise on Velebit! Had to share my happiness with you ;-)

Hehe! :-) Nice to hear that! I was checking the weather report and I know that in Croatia and souther of croatia there are many snow blizards right now! Enjoy! On Saturday I am going in France and I hope there is a lot of snow because I hear that in Switzerland there fell around 1 meter fresh snow in last days! So.. :-)

Cheers!

Re: Interesting!

Hey, guys, I'm enjoying with you. But have in mind, that 1m of snow is not only interesting, but also dangerous. Bor, have a good skiing weekend and check slopes for avalanches before freeriding. And you, Sasa take care as well - you might not reach far this weekend.

Re: Interesting!

I like extremes Vid but I'm not too crazy, I know when to stop :-) I will try to get somewhere on Velebit this weekend, but I know it will be very hard. There was no time for snow to transform and most roads will not be cleaned till weekend. This is amazing snow storm, now there is over 1meter of snow in most of Lika and Gorski Kotar, Velebit has 112cm, more than Triglav ;-) Plitvice even more, 114cm. But drifts are few meters high. Hundreds of trucks are stuck on the highway on both sides of Kapela mountain for 3 days now! Poor drivers, I can imagine how it is for them. And it's still snowing and blizzard is all over. Adriatic road and section of highway below Velebit are still closed for all traffic, hurricane force Bura is reaching 200km/h today. It really amazes me how this region produces such extreme weather. What an interesting and delicate geographic position. Conditions in Julians, except for the coldness, must be great because it didn’t snow much for a long time. Hope you will have fun in France Bor and return with some nice photos!
