Triumph from near the pass above Middle Thornton Lake. The S ridge is that huge, square shoulder on the L. We descended by rappelling blind into the deep, dark gully on the far side. A single rappel with two 50m ropes reaches easy ground. The crest of the lower ridge is easy walking, but the rappel E to the glacier here leaves a bit to be desired. We settled for a mediocre anchor, and still had to downclimb a little off the end.
