South face of Makalu

South face of Makalu

The south face of Makalu, seen from about 18,000 feet elevation above Hillary Camp. The summit is still 10,000 feet above us, and the roar of the jet stream cutting across it was clearly audible. October, 2002.

Re: Favourite angle...

Hi Alan,

Here you go, I just uploaded a bigger scan. My scanner seems to be aging and I'm not thrilled with the quality, but it's still better than the small SP v1 version that was here earlier.

While I was at it, you got two for the price of one. I also rescanned this one.

Hope those are OK for you. I spent 3 days around the south side of Makalu before we crossed Sherpani Col. AMAZING PLACE!

Regards,
Nelson
