Climbing The Ames Ice Hose

On this section I used a two hand pull up on one tool when the area of the ice around the tool cracked off sending me to within 3 feet of hitting the ground. I then had to climb up back to my second tool using fist jams in the iceand rock holds to the left of me. There have been times I practice climbing ice on top rope not using my tools , trying hand and fist jams in the ice. The practice helped me out on this climb. The Ames is a Colorado classic ice climb. It was the icing on the cake for me this winter after climbing in Canada with my son and two good friends Jason and Eric .
