Pea-sized hail was really...

Pea-sized hail was really stinging my hands as I hunkered in a half-ass recess in a rock wall just east of Pt. 8487and held my camera up to take this shot of the hail-streaked southwest slopes of Gardner (South). Click. Shot taken. Moments later up and to the left of my eye, before I had even taken the camera away from my face, a lightning bolt dropped down into Gardner cirque then arced back up in a flat S-shape to strike the summit of N. Gardner. Crash! The thunder was instant. Without delay, I got the heck outta there! July 4, 1998.
