Mt. Lago from the north on August 23, 2001. The picture was taken from the notch below Pt. 8165 during the "other" Ptarmigan Traverse. Not the famous one of Washington State, but the one from Ptarmigan Peak to Mt. Lago. Just left of center is Pt. 8207. In the distance on the left are most likely Sunrise Peak and McLeod Mountain. The ice patch at right is probably that easternmost glacier in the Cascades, as mentioned in the overview. The light-colored ledge at the bottom of the picture is what one takes for the traverse since the northwest side of Pt. 8165 (out of frame to the left) requires class 5 climbing.
