very interestingsame thing happens in the karstic limestone plateaus of the Northern Alps like Tennengebirge or Hagengebirge but usually the warm air comes out of vertical caves, so better not step or ski into it :-)

Re: very interestingYes Klaus, so typical for karst. Many of these snow holes are overhanging (bell shape) so fall into it would give you serious headache if alone or with company but without rope. When passing by them on the trips when I'm alone it gives me shivers when I think about falling in accidentally :-)
