Upper West Face

Zoom shot of Upper West Face of Iliniza Sur. Photo taken on the descent and just before sunrise. We climbed the mountain via a route to the right of the West Face Direct, but couldn't quite stand on the true summit due to a huge gaping crevasse. All other sides were surrounded by avy prone ice cliffs and seracs and formed a serious obstacle for standing on the true summit. If you look close you can see the crevasse which stopped us from standing on the true summit as well as the seracs and ice cliffs blocking any alternate route.
