First try was prior spring - way too much snow! We made it this time. Quite a slog!

The hills are alive with the sound of Muzak....
Solo spring haul. Thick young aspens. Views made it worthwhile. I cannot improve upon what else has already been said below.

North ridge from W. Partner
Finished a long day of scrambling with Outpost after doing the Partner traverse. This ridge run is relatively easy after getting off the upper slopes of West Partner until you get to the saddle. From here, you negotiate of series of towers. The crux tower is Point 12241, which we bypassed via a gully descent on the west side.

South Ridge
Only one run open at Vail, so I decided to extend hiking season with a trip up "Outpost". Climbed via the South Ridge, dry to 10,200' (gotta love the south facing slopes in fall!), minimal snow above that - gaitors, no snowshoes. Great views of the surrounding higher peaks.
Second time up, with Rachael via South Ridge 10/13/18. Recent fall snows, nut much snow in the lower aspens, 6-8" in the flat pines and then some drifts 18+ near treeline.
Third time up, with Lindsay, Kat and their pups via South Ridge 5/22/22. Melted low, snowy up high with some postholing.
What a great day out! The Weather couldn't have been better. The stats on this route are deceiving. Great Winter peak for Chris and the dogs (Denali & Yukon) and I!

Fantastic Outing
Awesome day. Jared (coloradoiceclimber) and I skinned up on excellent snow until the final 200 feet or so. The views from the top were without rival on a clear day. The snow softened up on the way down and provided excellent skiing until the final 600ft at the bottom which was extremely soft and difficult in the nearly 50 degree heat.

Summit on a crappy snow day
Summited via South Ridge with Eric H on telemark skis. Weather was very interesting, overcast-fluuries-clear. Snow was miserably crusty for most of the descent. Had some intersesting crashes. Great summit for the views of surrounding valleys. 5 hours up, 2.5 tough hours down. 8am-4.5pm.

Broke a lot of powder trail to treeline. Heavy snow and wind turned us (James and I) around. Wanted a clear day to scope out/ photo Mt Solitude. Trail is broken... till it snows a bunch this weekend. Skiing is good up there, save me some lines.
