Re: Black HoleAnita - the Black Hole actually refers to the deep basin you cross to get at the base of the North Twin. It receives very little sun and climbers have to go down and across it to get to the base of the North Face. It would be mentally hard to cross such a dark unfriendly place before starting up a face like that!
Take care.

The Black Hole“The Black Hole is the giant basin found at the foot of the north face of the Twins Tower. The Black Hole is also the terminus zone for the hanging Stutfield Glacier. The Black Hole is a big mangled zone which rarely sees the sun. The Glacier that sits in the guts of the Hole drain out to the Athabasca River. Anyone who wishes to climb the North Face or the Abron Route needs to cross the Black Hole.”
