Turner Ridge Road

Looking northwest along the Amish lane at the point above Dry Bone Creek where you descend from Turner Ridge to the valley floor. As you can see it is shaded by some Sugar Maples. There are a couple of huge Tulip trees near the Buckeye Trail wand. This wand shows were the trail diverges from the lane. The tulip trees are on the east side of the lane and are unmistakable. The trail is on the west side and on the left side of the photo

Tulip trees ?

I've heard about Sugar Maples ... but, tulip trees? I don't live in that half of the country, but that's NO excuse. Thank you !!!

Tulip Tree

Some of the wood in your furniture is probably tulip tree. Liriodendron Tulipferra. A big tree taller than a sycamore and as stout but quite straight. Such wood will be straight grained and kind of a greenish white. Botanically they are next to Magnollias.
