Western chutes/Nambe LakeMy son, his friend, his friend's dog, and I climbed to the Lake Peak summit ridge via Nambe Lake. We left the car at 3:30 and gained the summit ridge very near the summit at around 5-5:30. There are many routes that become apparent as you gain elevation high in the bowl above the lake. I went up a steep narrow short prominent chute that was somewhere between a hard 3 and an easy 5 and gained the ridge very near the Lake Peak summit. The dog refused to enter the chute. The boys and dog traversed along the base of the cliffs beneath the ridge. I found one other way down but the dog wouldn't go that way either. They gained the ridge by traversing several hundred yards to a big chute that the dog agreed to. I This is beautiful way to get to lake peak. Once you get past the lake you're unlikely to see anyone. It's kind of cool because below the summit ridge, it feels pretty wild but as soon as you gain the ridge, you can see the SF ski hill. There are many class 3 to low class 5 routes.
