Larry's legacyLarry was a real mountain man. He had a beard and a gruff voice and he was a competitive sort. I remember once running as fast as we could down the Stuart-Colchuck trail with a full pack on (50 lbs), racing him back to the TH. He was an avid fisherman and loved fishing the mountain lakes and some of that rubbed off. We went all over the cascade mtns, bushwhacking and fighting the devils club and slide alder time and time again. We found lakes no one else knew existed and someday I'll have to write some of those experiences up. Larry was a good hearted and kind person, a person I'll always be glad to call friend.

My DadThanks Dean for the nice tribute to my dad. Although I have allowed myself to get out of shape and dont get out in the woods as often as I should, my dad taught me to love being in the woods. It is funny now as I am older I find myself doing to my kids what I used to hate but now thank my dad for. Yes thats right the old weekend "lets go for a drive in the mountains" line. I am currently living in small town Cove, Oregon near La Grande, a place I think my father would love, nestled at at foot of the mountains. My mothers recent passing has for me stirred up old forgotten memories of time spent with my parents in the woods as a child, time that is cherished and full of good memories. Thank you both for those and the lessons I learned from them.

re; My DadVeronica sent me the link. She recently got a travel trailer and some how we started talking about a fishing trip or something she and dad took with you and one of your kids. And then a day or two later she sent me the link.

DadThanks, Dean, for posting this tribute. It brought back some memories of trips Dad, you and I took all those years ago. A beautiful picture, as well.

Nicely saidWell said, Dad. I'm pretty sure it was me that went on that trip w/ you, Larry & Veronica. My memories of this man are vague but they involve camping, a hearty laugh, and that amazing beard.
