Hit it two weeks in a row
The date is not exact because in October of last year (2019), I hit Thomas Peak twice, one weekend after another. First was a summit during a storm. I did a trip report on that. Then my buddy and I went the next weekend and got some awesome views at dusk. Trip report on that too. We descended in the dark, but it was well worth it.

Thomas, Thomas Bench Mark, and Full House
We started hiking about two p.m. heading first to Thomas Benchmark, then Thomas Peak. My climbing partner then headed back down while I carried on to Full House. I made it back to the trail before dark. Very nice day in the mountains.

Very hot but enjoyable climb
Hiked up to Island Lake and started off for the talus slope that leads to the narrow chute on the east side. Not much trouble getting through the chute, however, talus rocks made it difficult and scary. Attained the east summit and continued on the ridge to the south summit, the highpoint. Reached it at approximately 2:30 p.m. There was a cairn but couldn't find a summit register. Beautiful views over the tops of all of the summits of the Rubies, great view of Island Lake and Ruby Valley.

Nevada?
I'd heard the Ruby Mountains were a gem, ahem, but I was still surprised by the terrain. This is a place I'd come back to. The climb itself was very straightforward.

great area
glad to see another Ruby Mountain peak on summitpost. This is a pretty short climb. we drove down from Boise after some unusual weather. Hiked in the fog and with a couple of inches of fresh snow on top. Combined with Full House. Another odd occurrence was the presence of several bird watchers around Island Lake looking for the Himalayan snowcock- it was introduced from Pakistan and this the only place to find this bird outside of Asia. In the movie, "The Big Year" they take a helicopter into the Rubies looking for the bird.
