Re: IncredibleDuh-It could be a marmot. I'd have to see the tail. If that's it down in the lower right hand corner, then it might be a beaver. Then, my first comment would certainly apply.
Beaver do show up in the strangest places, though.

Re: IncredibleIt actually was a beaver and not a marmot. That was my thought originally, too. The tail was flat and about 5-6" wide. I'm still amazed he was up there.

I was there!My wife Jennifer & I can confirm this sighting. We also climbed sherman on May 31, 2003 and saw the alpine beaver. I have posted one of my summit beaver pics on the page. I believe we actually ran into the poster of this pic. (we had a border collie with us).
