This is a very rare shot of Snowmass Mountain from the Pierre Lakes Basin. The summit of North Snowmass is at the far left( the cone-shaped peak rising from the ridge), This ridge continues on to Capitol Peak and encircles the Pierre Lakes. Getting to these lakes is not easy. Expect a full day or more to get there. It took us about 14 hours. Expect about 3,400 ft. and tough route finding as well. But you will be rewarded with everlasting memories of the crystal clear lakes and miles of white rock.
