The two routes from the hut...

The two routes from the hut up the Knees create this pentagon of sorts. It seems that most people go up the route to the right of the cliff band about half way up the Knees. We used to do this until one time another group triggered a terrible rock fall that nearly killed several people, including us. Since then we have traversed below the rock band to the culoir on the left side of the Knees. We have also experienced rock fall on this route, but our experience has been that the rocks are are smaller, fall slower (not quite so steep), don't bounce so high, and stop sooner than the rockfall we encountered on the other route. Also, there are more and easier accessible places to shelter oneself from rockfall on this route than on the other. It is a south facing slope. August 2004 =-)
