Re: great panorama!Thanks Greg! It's a cropped 35mm slide - Kodachrome 64 taken in 1984. The pan look was better than the full frame in my opinion. I have a Minolta Dimâge Scan Dual film scanner.

Re: great panorama!I've had it for over four years, so it's not the latest and greatest. The dynamic range is somewhat limited, so high contrast (like mountain pix with snow and evergreen trees) are a challenge. It's 2438ppi max, but the newer model is I believe 2800ppi, so that's not a limitation. Also the newer model has better dynamic range. Also the price is down quite a bit now. I think the new model would be better, but I've never had a chance to compare it to Canon and Nikon and other manufacturers. One thing I'd like is the ability to handle darker exposures, which may not be possible on any of them, not sure. The other problem with this scanner is that most scans have a rather significant magenta shift that I must adjust for by strategically adding green. :-)

NICE!I love "widescreen" shots because this is how we see. Many of my own submissions are cropped from slides in the same manner. It makes the picture more striking because we see things this way. Two eyes result in a rectangular view. If we were a cyclops race, we'd see things in a square view. This is a great shot and cropped effectively for a striking appearance. Well done!

Re: NICE!Thanks Aaron, and nice analysis. I've always liked panos too, but I wasn't sure about that being because of how we see. It makes sense though, and I find myself often wanting to crop out extra sky and unattractive foreground. In general I like to put the skyline near the top of the frame regardless, unless the the sky has something beautiful to add to the picture. Lots of uninteresting sky very often eliminates much more interesting terrain! :-)
