The summit of Notch Peak. In...

The summit of Notch Peak. In response to the message board string "General - Highest vertical face in the U.S.?", I've made some rough calculations from the topo map. Of course they are probably quite inaccurate.
There is a 1,254 ft drop to the first large interruption in the cliff. This drop occurs in 0.067 miles (352 ft), resulting in an average rise of 74.3 degrees.
There is a 2054 ft drop to what is likely to be the highest point in the canyon that one can reach w/ rock climbing. This drop occurs in .2 miles (1056 ft), resulting in an average rise of 62 degrees.
The peak drops at least 4,700 ft between the summit and valley floor.
