The Garden Wall (foreground)...

The Garden Wall (foreground) and rugged mountains of the Many Glacier area hide from view with the help of persistant clouds that seem to love Glacier. Looking due north from the summit of Mount Oberlin.

Re: heartstrings

Aaron, I really enjoy your photos, mountain pages and trip reports on SP. My wife and I are actually goint to GNP on July 31st for our 20th anniversary. We plan to hike to the Glacier and do the other tourist stuff, but I have greased the skids for a climb of at least one peak(Oberlin). I have done 30 or so of the Colorado 14ners, 13ners and wifey has climbed Handies. I think we can make it!

Re: heartstrings

Excellent! Oberlin is easy. You'll have it done in 4 hours, and that's messing around as you go. Hopefully the weather will be kind to you. Which glacier are you hiking to? Given your experience, you will do well on these mountains. Keep in mind they're still very big! I've written a number of reports and pages as well for the peaks in Glacier. You can find them on my profile page. Good stuff to prepare you for your trip. YOU'RE GOING TO LOVE GLACIER! Have a ton of fun!

Glacier destination

We are going to hike with a group to Grinnell Glacier during one of the first days during our visit. Also going to take the 10 mile hike from Waterton Park back down along the lake into the USA with a boat trip for the return. Staying at the Swift Current Lodge. I'm secretly lusting for a chance to bag an "easy" GNP summit(Oberlin)! Thanks for your interest.

Re: Glacier destination

You'll have a fantastic trip. I believe you'll be walking right by Mount Cleveland, with it's 4,000 sheer north face. It will be a fantastic hike!
