...agree with the elderly Belgian. The sierras are #1. #2 is the north norwegian mountains. You truly do not know how lucky you were with that visibility.

I have a small correction:

Actually the total area of Norwegian glaciers is larger than that of the Alps, so the glaciers have certainly not "all but disappeared", as you would see in the Jotunheimen, the home of the highest Norwegian mountains. The largest glacier in Norway, the many-tongued Jostedalsbræ is much larger than the largest Alpine glacier, the Aletsch. However, in my opinion nothing beats the view of the giant Ice peaks of the Mont Blanc group or the Valais, or the rocky towers and needles of the Dolomites.

Wrong as usual Einar. Compared to the ice age glaciers that completely covered Norway with ice that was often several thousand feet thick, the remaining Norwegian glaciers are in fact tiny.
