Wet day
With Flanders. Easy hike to the pond/lake, then up and started getting snowy. Running meltwater down the trail. Very cold and windy up top but blue sky day and great views of Katahdin. With it being wet, we did not do South Brother or Coe this day, only North Brother.
Excellent hike, descended the steep and sketchy MT Coe trail.

Marston Trail
Katahdin was closed due to endangered species protection for the rest of the fall so North Brother was the goal for the day. The first three miles of trail were pretty good but the 1.2 mile section before you hit the final push to the summit was horrid. It was like wading in an icy stream, with calf deep puddles in places. There were some wood puncheons scattered on the trail, but they really weren't effectively placed. Two hours and thirty minutes up and the same time back down in a steady drizzle. I returned on 21 September 2017 and did North Brother again, plus Fort, South Brother, and Coe on a sunny day. Eight hours and forty minutes to do the entire loop.

Marston Loop
Climbed Mt OJI, Mt Coe and both Brothers. The trails were all rivers, or at least swamps, but the summits of Coe and the Brothers were excellent, with great views.

The Brothers
Climbed with OJI and Coe via the Marston Trail from Slide Dam. Hiked the Brothers in pouring rain. Not a really fun day. We were lucky though that it stopped raining when we were on the two summits. No views though. Will come back here someday to climb Fort and see what exactly we missed by hiking on a crummy day.

Warm day, though rainy. Still, nice views of Katahdin through the drizzle.
Trail up North Brother is pratically a stream with significant erosion.

North Brother via Marston Trail
Okay, so if the previous day on the Katahdin massif was perfect, it inevitably had to rain at some point on the trip. Not much to see. Definately some eroding taking place on the trail.
