The beautiful pool at the Berge-Buck saddle (circa 6,600 ft) of Section 5 of the West Shoulder Route. My partner Tom and I agreed this was one of the prettier places we'd been to in the Cascades. It would be a superb place to camp. This photo taken on August 18, 2002 from the north end of the pool where its waters abruptly disappear into a chasm. Crossing the outlet here is not hard but certainly gets your heart racing a little. The long southeast ridge of the south summit of Mt. Berge can be seen beyond.
