Re: Seductive

Hilarious, Dan, I love your witty and upbeat comments. Clearly you have a soft spot for people who like to slide on snow. Not sure if my youth counts as the Canvas Age or if we were just behind the times, but I for one didn't have coffee then; most likely I'd have done my 'first real snow climb' sooner if I had. [raises thermos] Here's to sweet backcountry adventures.

No friggin' coffee LOL

If I recall it right it snowed in Brazil highlands in June 1978, and the wholesale coffee prices went through the roof. So the Soviet Government, after struggling to afford it, decided to wean the toiling masses off coffee for good. Years later, coffee started trickling back onto the store shelves, but then I discovered, to my own surprise, that I don't like it anymore :/ Isn't it strange how communism works sometimes, huh?

No frostbites Sean please, some of them just never heal properly and it sucks. 'Grats on the front-page TR BTW!

And no D, this wasn't _the_ trip. The "turning point" trip happened a couple years earlier, but it had so bad weather that almost no photos are worth posting. How about this one, with nice long wooden touring skis LOL?

Re: No friggin' coffee LOL

Thanks for the congrats. Yeah, I consider frost bite more of an accident than a rite of passage! Good that it not completely healing still hasn't stopped you from continuing winter adventures, though.

Excellent

Sean, great information, and very honest. I love the pictures, they are the best I've seen documenting the Triple T.

Re: Excellent

Thanks. I figured either it had to be long and somewhat introspective, or else just be an album. Anything in between would have been redundant with the other excellent TRs.

thanks for the photos

I was with the SP group that did the TT the Saturday after your group. I did not want to get behind so I missed taking a lot of photos. I appreciate the personal view of the climb. It was my first snow TT too, and I can relate to a lot of the feelings you expressed. Looks like a lot of the glide avalanches that had released on the 10th were still waiting to come down on your day. We passed over tons of debris on the way out in upper Broads.

Re: thanks for the photos

Thanks for your comments. I really appreciate you saying you can relate to it, since I sorta put myself out on a limb with some of it.
Yeah, the glide slabs seemed to me to be ready to go any day; I was relieved to get out from under them.
Heard you were maybe gonna join Walter and me on Monte Cristo last weekend; too bad you couldn't join us up there, but maybe we'll meet some other time.

Great Report and Pics

Great pics and report. The pictures of sunrise look absolutely amazing. Not being from Utah, I wouldn't have ever realized this peak existed until reading and I just wanted to say thanks! Great job.
