Summer Cactus to Clouds Hike

There was a cool spell (low of 72F), and I was very fit from Whitney, so I did my first summer Cactus to Clouds hike. I left at 1am and was at Rescue 2 by sunrise. The last two miles to Long Valley kicked my butt of course. Leaving early was great because I got to Long Valley before the crowds came up the tram, and I had much of the upper hike to myself. That never happened before and was a very nice, very different experience than the normal Cactus to Crowds. Had a cold beer at the tram station before heading back down, highly recommend adding that to your hike agenda.

If you want to give it a try, make sure you know what you're doing and that you're super fit. I have a full Cactus to Clouds hike guide on my blog, I recommend checking it out as part of your planning process.

Children

Children refers to the set of objects that logically fall under a given object. For example, the Aconcagua mountain page is a child of the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits.' The Aconcagua mountain itself has many routes, photos, and trip reports as children.

Friends

Related objects are relevant to each other in some way, but they don't form a parent/child relationship. Also, they don't necessarily share the same parent.
