Great TR...

...and yes I do enjoy your writing style. Your passion for the mountains sure comes through. Not being a technical climber , I often lose interest in the climbing details of a TR, but your meandering between the climbing, musings and history keeps your stories moving nicely, and I like that. That's just my opinion, but of course I am not an actual writing critic (although I play one on the internet (LOL)).

I really appreciate the peace you seem to have with not having to reach the summit... that it's about being on the mountain and enjoying the journey. I need to remember that advice more on my next outing.

My favorite line from the whole TR though..."risk and risk alone will always come to define what our individual subjective definitions of what a climb is". This is a priceless piece of prose. I think I will have to add it to my list of my favorite quotes.

Glad to see you're still getting out...although probably not as much as you'd like. Happy trails, Mark

Don't feel like

you missed anything on the staircase, unless you are in to poorly protected mixed climbing. On the 21st, the route and all of the cracks were clogged with rotten ice. We ended up having to dry tool up wet flakes and slabs to the right of it. Maybe a better summer destination!

Re: Don't feel like

Yah. Doesn't sound too good. Poor pro on chincy ice. Makes for good stories though!
Thanks for reading, Jason!
