Bouldery Wonderland  Sucess!

Cool peak, interesting area, fairly easy climb. From Dean's TH it's <1mile and ~1,200 feet to the ridge, followed by a pleasant 15-20 minute stroll along the ridge through a bouldery wonderland, then finally a fun, maze-like section with a little scrambling to the peak.

If climbing, please bring a new register/container- old register is soaked through. Last sign-in was April 2018.

Drive in is super-smooth & easy until mile 9 (from the pavement) where it gets just a little rough (but probably still fine for passenger cars.) From mile 10 on (right turn) it's high-clearance 4WD, but the hike is short enough that it wouldn't be a big deal to walk this last stretch.

From Sixmile Flat  Sucess!

Was road tripping my way down to Red Rock Canyon and this was nearby. Parked at the water tank west of Sixmile Spring, hiked up the remainder of the road (I found that it was easily driveable another mile to its terminus), and followed a ridge up to the flat meadowy/rocky area west of the summit. From there it was a nice walk and then scramble to the top.

Two days in Nevada  Sucess!

Climbed this on an official Sierra Club DPS trip led by Rod Kieffer and myself. We climbed Hyko, East Pahranagat Range High Point, Cathedral, and the unnamed bump to the south over two days.

East Side  Sucess!

Another guided tour provided by Dean. The maze getting to the summit block was fun. Scrambling up the last 15 ft was fun too.

2nd time up  Sucess!

After visiting Chokecherry on the 24th, Badger mtn on the 25th, Mt. Irish on the 26th, Dennis and I did this one again and really enjoyed this rare gem. Dennis became only the 9th person to summit this one in 18 years. No one had signed into the register since Ken Jones and I did in May of 2010.

Cross country  Sucess!

For Ken Jones and I, this was our second mountain that we visited on our trip to this part of Nevada. We had done Chokecherry Mountain the day before and this one is just across the valley from it. From where we car camped, we headed straight up the mountain to the ridgeline and then headed north to the summit, making our way through lots of boulders as we got closer. We attained the summit by a short class 3 scramble up on the south side where we wedged our way up a 20 foot passage. An old wooden triangulation structure was found laying near the benchmark.
