took two days off

Definitely relished that all day adventure in between the frequent stops in search of more oxygen and pain relief. That fellow who did the traverse caught up to me shortly after you and I parted. He said he had met up with the trio that we had climbed with and that they took a different route down that they had previously scoped out.

I didn't get back to the car until 5:45 pm. Thirteen hours on the go, half of it a slow go up and down that slope. Took two days off and then did Crestone Peak from S Colony Lakes and finished up with a hike to Kit Carson using a route similar to one you posted. While I was laboriously making my way from Kitty Kat to Kit, I observed a fellow by the name of Wesley run up the avenue to tag Challenger and seemingly moments later he was running down past me having just summitted Kit Carson. Very impressive.

And so is your trip report. I actually enjoyed reliving the pain.

Old guys on mountains

Nice report; your times, and experience with this route, are very similar to mine last month. (We got a bluebird day, too!) At 60, I feel right at home on peaks like this, and it sounds like you do to. BTW, that broken sign doesn't say "14,000." The top is missing, but it used to say "14,156," the topo map elevation of Maroon Pk. Climb on!

I'm not old....are you?

Please refrain from including me in your "Old Guys" group.....
The "plaque" was what we did........Climb, summit, descent.
14000-14156.......whatever, appreciate your details.
Su amigo,
Myrone
