South Buttress

South Buttress

Yours truly on the summit of Cutthroat Peak. This is looking roughly west towards the heart of North Cascades N.P. In the background, immediately right of me are Mount Goode, Mount Logan, and Black Peak (pyramid-like). Thanks to Martin Cash for providing this information (June 4, 2005).

Re: Looks Like A Great Trip

Hi Jason,

Thanks!

:)

Monday's certainly DO suck!

The weather was great - started out sunny in the morning and then clouds were building continuously throughout the day on Sat. but not too bad (no drizzle or anything). Sun. morning woke up to drizzle though :(

The climb is OK at best in my opinion - most of it is long stretches of 3rd/4th class with singular steps of up to mid 5th. The crux was easy for an .8 (more like a .7). Did take a direct variation (as in I messed up) and that section was ~5.8+ or so.

talk to you later

No need for a rope...

...on some truly fine Oregon peaks like this one, Beatys Butte Great shot of you and weather wise it looks like you did ok. This spring has been the pits.

Mountains

Nice job on your climb, and good photos. To the right of you from left to right are Mount Goode, Mount Logan, and Black Peak.

Re: Mountains

Martin,

thank you very much and thanks for the info. - I'll include it in the caption later tonight.

The place was drier than I expected (we went in there thinking it was either going to be sh...y weather or whole lotta snow).

There's a bunch of TR's on WA pass climb on cc.com. Looks like it's opean season for rock there :)

...if the weather cooperates that is.

take care.

Re: Mountains

Cool, thanks for the info. Bruce and I were going to go up there this weekend, but decided to take a chance and try Darrington, which worked out really really well on Saturday. Love that place. I climbed my new favorite route of all time. I'll post it tonight.

Cheers,

Martin

Re: Mountains

How do you know it wasn't Total Soul, Jacob's Ladder, The Kone, or Ginsu? :-)

Your second guess was correct.

Cheers!

Re: Mountains

Sorry Martin - it was simply due to the fact that these two popped into my head when you mentioned D-town.

....probably since I've been thinking about them quite a bit :)

Looking forward to your page!

radek

PS so been wondering (kind of a sneak preview of your forthcoming SP pages ;), how's the approach to the base there. Is it doable for a "highly skilled" dog? thanks!

Re: Mountains

Looks good! You could also add Storm King into it, which is that lower mountain just right of Goode, but left of Logan.
