Best route
Such a fun scrambling route. There's a very brief knife edge section, awesome.

Why haven't I done this before!? Very nice and practically right in my backyard.

South Arete
Outstanding scramble! It was fun, and I never felt in any real danger the whole way. Definitely some class 3 spots, with one 100-foot section near the top bordering on lowend class 4 (exposure). Left the car just before 3:30pm and returned after 7:30pm.....took 1 1/2 hrs to reach the top of the arete but only 35-40 min down :) It's amazing that this route is nontechnical, since from a distance it looks unclimbable without climbing equipment. Made it to the true summit of EL Cajon - views were decent, although a bit hazy. Nice cool and windy day with temps in the 60's - perfect for this kind of scramble!

Pure fun!
Another spur of the moment day trip while in San Diego. The South Arete of ECM was a blast! Did it in ~ 3.5 hrs roundtrip.
I didn't know San Diego had routes like this. Hard to find a decent scramble here. Seemed really easy for class 3, even when trying to go for harder stuff. Still very fun.

awesome scramble for San Diego!
Fun climb with views past Point Loma. Lots of class 2 stuff and a few class 3 sections. If you stick to the top of the ridge there are a couple of class 4 moves with a bit of exposure, but most of the route is class 2/3.
