Sonora Peak Summit Stormy Day

Sonora Peak Summit Stormy Day

Sonora Peak Summit. Between booming thunderstorms. Couldn't see the first one until half way up. Rolled the dice. The darn thing came straight for me. As the lightning and thunder moved closer and closer, me fully exposed on the bare naked slope of this mountain, I spotted a colony of dwarf pines and headed for them. I dove into a little hollow amongst the little trees and laid down. Lightning strikes were all around, the thunder rattling my nerves. Then the corn snow fell. After well over a half an hour, I emerged from my shelter completely soaked and covered with dirt. A memorable day in the mountains.
