So, it snowed this

much on Devil's Backbone???

That must have been the same storm that
dumped on Arizona, leaving an inch in the
desert and several feet in Flagstaff.

Thanks! I was lucky to whip out my camera in time to capture this, since most of the time the snow and blowing snow obscured everything. Mt. Baldy ski area claimed they got 3 feet Thursday and Friday, and between that and the thick layer of ice on the trees, it was an amazing day.

Wow, im planning on hitting up this trail this Saturday Feb 13. Any tips? Also do u need an ice axe and crampons?

It really depends on the conditions. Snowshoes and maybe trekking poles (had an axe, but didn't need it) were plenty on that day, if you knew where the route went. If it hasn't snowed recently, then you'll probably want crampons and an axe. You'll definitely want an axe to glissade down into the bowl on the way back.

I'd ask about conditions in the CA forum -- there are people who do Baldy quite frequently.
