Excellent ..What's that peak on the horizon?
It looks a lot like Tokewanna.

Re: Excellent ..Thanks Larry! Yes, the peak on the horizon, not quite a third of the way over from the right, with a small bright cloud to its right, is Tokewanna.

Re: Excellent ..Thanks Mrs. Zee!
(That's what I figured, but was just a wild
guess.)

Re: Very nice ZeeJay!Actually, the shadow of that cloud is what
makes this picture truly amazing ...
... and most definitely keeps me from going
snow-blind !!!
Seems like "dark glasses" would be a
requirement when exploring the High Uintas
in March ..
(maybe even a pair of exotic goggles and
skinny skis ..)

Snowy ParadiseZeejay... Great shot! For someone who doesn't care for winter climbing, this looks like a daunting achievement! Congrats! What do you think the temp was on Kings that day? Are the rocky summits to the right-center of pic Red Castle?--particularly Red Castle 12,800+?

Re: Snowy ParadiseThanks!
On that particular day we were very lucky with the temps. It was 28 degrees F at 5 in the morning at the start as compared to -1 this year. At the summit, around 3ish, it was probably in the 20's, but most of the way above treeline it was miserably windy.
Yes, that is Red Castle. From R to L,
12338 is blocked by Mt Powell and can't be seen
12700, the main Red Castle summit, looks striped
12566, pointier than 12700
the snow covered 12825
the snow covered 12694

Re: Snowy ParadiseJust curious ..
What kind of outerwear ???
Seems like you'd need a wind-shell and have
to dress in layers for those extreme temps.
Are you into Gortex, or would you rather buy
clothing second-hand at the garage sale ???

Re: Snowy ParadiseNot too many folks in Arizona own Gortex, for
obvious reasons.
