Skrlatica

Skrlatica

This is the southern side of the second highest summit of slovenian Julian Alps - Skrlatica (by the way, the second highest peak under Triglav is Montaz (Jóf di Montasio/Montasch), which is in the Western Julian Alps in Italy. The picture is taken from the way to Skrlatica from Bivak IV, from the grassy ledges of Dolkova Spica mountain - called Strme police. Above, left under of the highest point you see the small valley/caldron and it's gravelly slopes. It's Zadnji Dolek. The peak has got it's older name from this slope - it was "Suhi Plaz" which means "Dry Avalanche". The name Skrlatica - the "Scarlet-red mountain" came up from the north walls wiew. Just look forward for some pictures about it, you'd know why...
