Overview

Monte Meta West Face

Second mountain, for height, of the Abruzzi National Park
Peak with the characteristic aspect of pyramid truncates.
It is steep on all the slopes.
At east an imposing rocky wall, of around 300 meters, overhangs the plain the " Biscurris ", residual of the glacial era.
From the peak a magnificent panorama is observed on the mountains of the Park.

The M.Meta is one of the mountains symbol of the park of Abruzzo and, perhaps, the most beautiful, at least aesthetically.

Its oriental slope has tall rocky walls from 50mt to 250m, unfortunately of scarce summer interest, because of the very bad quality of the rock.In winter, instead, this mountain is one of the ideal places whether to practise the apinism on snow and ice.

Getting There

Out of the wood
From Naples,by the car, taking the highway A1 Napoli-Roma.
Left the highway at the station of Caianello.
Take direction to Venafro and after to Pescasseroli.
In Alfedena (893 mt) take the road asphalted that conducts to the Plain Campitelli (1445 mt). Leave there the car and go to the path on the right.
Continue afoot along the path (enough evident also with a lot of snow) that it is on the right of the Campitelli Plain.
The path enters then the wood and goes down of some about ten meters folding up toward right, then it goes up again with varied curves(always in the wood),
At the high of 1680 meters, the path goes out of the wood. It appears visible the coastline of the M.Meta (1h). From here another hour it is necessary to arrive at the base of the walls.

Children

Children refers to the set of objects that logically fall under a given object. For example, the Aconcagua mountain page is a child of the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits.' The Aconcagua mountain itself has many routes, photos, and trip reports as children.
