Helpful?Did the snow make the scree easier than it normally would be? Or did it make it even worse? BTW, I'm loving all the pics.

I think on Saturday when we scrambled up Krag Peak, the very thin layer of snow made the scree much worse. However, by Sunday morning we had about 8" to 1 foot of accumulation and that I think was enough to "stabilize" some of the scree just a little bit making it just a tad easier than without snow (my humble opinion).
I'm curious as to which route you guys used for both approach to the mountain (I don't think you came in from the same trailhead) and to climb up to the ridge line?
By the way, thank you for posting this one. It's a beauty of a mountain and your excellent photos made us go there probably sooner than we would've otherwise (first time in the southern Wallowas).

Re: Helpful?We came in from the Summit Point TH, accessed by taking FR 77 (just a few miles out of Richland) to the McBride campground and then taking a right on FR 7715 and going north to the TH at Summit Point. Summit Point has a lookout that was manned and the trail continues on past the service road to it towards Crater Lake. In the pic I posted where Bob and Dennis are pointing out routes, we went up to the left next to the treeline and connected to the ridge at about 9200 feet. Coming down we picked different lines so no one would be in the path of moving rock. Thanks to you for your pics and comments. I'm glad you enjoyed the area.
