Thanks for the vote. I kept meaning to climb this one also. I finally got around to it this December. It's a really beautiful hike.

About bringing your wife, this route is really easy until the last 200 feet. I would say it's worth going to that point, and not summiting. It's still great just below the summit.

Continuing the hike

Thanks for posting, Ed! I've climbed this many times and would like to add to your route description. I like to continue the hike by hiking down the ridge to the South of Sentinel Point until just before the next high point. Then I descend into the basin to the West. This is all off-trail for a while, but eventually brings you back into Horsethief Park. You can't get lost as it funnels you to the trail to Horsethief Falls. There's a good map here: https://www.google.com/search?q=sentinel+point+map&client=safari&rls=en&tbm=isch&imgil=cWOcRB85RGC3fM%253A%253BqCz4kL9gkAt-1M%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.hikingintherockies.com%25252Fhiking%25252Fhike%2525252520reports%25252Fsentinelpoint%25252Fsentinelpoint.htm&source=iu&pf=m&fir=cWOcRB85RGC3fM%253A%252CqCz4kL9gkAt-1M%252C_&biw=1920&bih=1138&usg=__gRUo8KV9GJnmd_AyHkVpLUv7ptY%3D&ved=0CDAQyjdqFQoTCLXV-b3tnMgCFYgyiAodNw4Dpw&ei=_dUKVvXiKojloAS3nIy4Cg#imgrc=cWOcRB85RGC3fM%3A&usg=__gRUo8KV9GJnmd_AyHkVpLUv7ptY%3D
